Well, the results are in! Your dad and I had a very strong opinion that you were fraternal twins. And, the results confirm that. We would have been shocked if you were identical!!

Evelyn - you have mastered rolling over and are doing it all the time.

Erin - you found your voice and are hooting and hollering all the time!

Today is your 4 month birthday - your dad and I are the luckiest people in the whole world!!

---- COPY OF TEST RESULTS #14442-060919 ----

We are pleased to report to you the results of the twin zygosity test that you requested. Analysis of the DNA indicates that Erin Lenore Detelfsen and Evelyn Grace Detelfsen are dizygotic, or more commonly referred to as fraternal twins.

We first isolated DNA from cheek cells from the swab kits that were returned to our lab. We amplified the DNA using a technique called PCR. Next, we analyzed 7-8 standard DNA markers (D5S818, D13S317, D7S820, D16S539, vWA, TH01, TPOX, and CSF1PO) and determined that the highly variable DNA markers were different for 2 or more markers between the twins. Thus, there is greater than a 99% probability that the twins are dizygotic.

As stated in our testing Terms and Conditions, these test results are not qualified for any medical or legal purpose. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about these test results.

Thank you for choosing Proactive Genetics.

Turning a New Leaf...

Hi Little Bird (Evelyn)...
You are now close to 4 months old - 3 months and 3 weeks to be precise. In fact, tomorrow is your baptism! It is very cold - about 40 degrees and we've already had snow which is very early.

Yesterday you decided to roll over from stomach to back - that's the easy way. After you did it a few times ... pop, your sister tried it. Today, you rolled over from back to stomach. It took you a good 20 minutes or so, but it was very fun to see you land on your belly and then not be too sure what to do next. Erin has not yet mastered this - she tries, but can't get all the way over! I always knew you'd roll first - you've been thinking about it for some time. I saw you do it twice today and it really made my day. Tomorrow you and sissy will make my day when you take a step toward having a strong faith.

Pretty much every day you and your sister make my day!
Another fun step in your fabulous life!
Love - Mom

And, when I say Love please know that I love you with every fiber of myself. You and your sister are the most precious miracles in my life. Our family is the most important thing to me.

Do you know why I call you little bird? When you are very tired or sad or hungry you make the sweetest cry - it sounds like a little bird. Your cries are typically more polite than your sisters - she pretty much wails! But, you've been known to shake a few walls as well... Sometimes I call Erin big bird - I think that is a funny name for her as well - in some strange way it is so appropriate.
Gotta run!
Love - Mom
